Kismet

Clever adaptations of music by Borodin provide the melodic magic carpet which transports this romantic Arabian nights adventure up to musical theatre heaven. One single day transforms the fortunes of wily beggar Hajj and his beautiful daughter Marsinah, intertwining their fate with the wicked grand Wazir, his funny and luscious wife Lalume, the kingdom’s handsome Caliph, and storyteller Omar Khayyam. The impressively varied score contains such 1950s hits as “Stranger in Paradise,” “Baubles, Bangles, and Beads,” “And This Is My Beloved,” and many more. With strong legitimate voices and witty actors, this is a one-of-a-kind musical comedy.
