Finian's Rainbow

This politically-minded fantasy, with its rich Burton Lane - “Yip” Harburg score (“Old Devil Moon,” “How Are Things in Glocca Morra?,” “When I’m Not Near the Girl I Love”), was a surprise hit in 1947, an equally surprising motion picture in 1968, and a delightful Broadway revival in 2009. Mixing leprechauns, Irishmen, and black sharecroppers in the mythical state of “Missitucky,” this is a unique and memorable musical experience.

Costumes

Set vaguely around 1947, this colorful collection of costumes by Sarah Reever allows a large cast to spin an attractive tale, with wily Finian and his lovely daughter Sharon arriving in a southern state, where Southern Senators and lively sharecroppers are set on a magical journey with an increasingly human leprechaun named Og, in search of his stolen pot of gold.
