The Dragon drop from Drowsy Chaperone
Of note: Our stage is about 44′ deep, and we frame our proscenium into a width of 44′ and a height of about 22′. Our full stage drops are approximately 26′ high and 55′ wide and we do require that the drops hang to their full height. No pinning, rolling, or clamping of the drops would be allowed. Please check our Technical Specs page to assure that our drops will fit your venue.

The dragon drop is quite simple but looks amazing, I really love it. Do you have drops for cartoon characters?
I am wondering about drops for the Little Mermaid. Do you have them and could I rent them separately? Wish I could rent your whole set. It looks amazing!

In the case of ANNIE we actually have no specific ANNIE drops to offer. We do have various New York skyline drops (the best can be seen on the ON THE TOWN page at http://www.MTWrentals.org ), and several different Times Square drops that could be used for “NYC.” The best of those can be seen on the CRAZY FOR YOU page. There’s another stylized drop for Times Square that we created for SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN. I’ll see if we have a picture of that one.
But I don’t believe we have any drops that would be suitable for the Orphanage or for Warbuck’s mansion.
Grosh Scenic Studios has several backdrops they recommend for ANNIE.

Thanks for the kind words Emma. That particular drop was designed by our good friend J Branson, and painted by our wonderful technical staff (Tara Houston in charge) for The Drowsy Chaperone. When we have a chance (business has been good) we will post more photos of the drops we offer.
That was an amazing dragon drop. I’ve seen many dragon art before but seeing this really amazes me. It’s very simple yet it’s attractive. I’m looking forward to see your collection of hairspray drops in your blog.
I was looking at your Oliver! pictures on the rental page. I see it indicated you only have costumes for rent, but is it possible you have the drop shown, or, if you got it from another source, could you direct me?

Sir: Thank you for your e-mail. We do not have a village drop as you would think of seeing a number of cottages painted on it. Our “village” cottages were hard constructions that played in front of what we called a valley drop with no houses on it. Is this what you are looking for or a drop with cottages painted on it? You might try Ken Mark Studios in Overland Park Kansas. They may have something a bit more of what you are looking for.

There are spectacularly good drops for THE MUSIC MAN, available in a choice of sizes, from Kenmark Studios in Kansas City. Here is their web site.

In our experience, their drops are even more detailed and beautiful in person than the web renderings suggest. We are using the largest set of their drops for the show this summer, from June 8 – 12.

I’m trying to find some drops for MUSIC MAN, and I’m not having much luck with the search engine. Can you help me?
Jeff: Good Morning. Thank you for your message. Are you referring to the full stage show drop of “Robbin Hood” or the “wanted poster” that is the pull away/tear down? Our full stage drops are 55’ wide by 26’ tall and are required to hang to their full height (no rolling, pinning, taping, tripping, splinning allowed). Can your fly floor accommodate this (a grid height of approx 55’)? The ‘pull away/tear down’ wanted poster is for the reveal of the reporter from the Boston Globe. IT’s smaller and made out of china silk; it is rigged with Velcro tabs and tie line attached to the appropriate batten.
In either case, it’s going to be pricey. These are brand new pieces………

Will you rent the drop from Curtains with the Robbin’ Hood Wanted sign?
Hi Tracy,
We have the entire collection of Hairspray drops, but they are currently unavailable due to the overwhelming popularity of the show. It’s possible that in the future we would be happy to rent the drops as a component set, but the composite package (sets, drops, props, and costumes) is sold out through most of 2011 at this point.
Please keep us in mind for other rentals though, now and in the future. Best of luck with your production.
