The set for West Side Story, designed by Robert A. Kovach, includes all set pieces and furniture necessary to depict the various locations discussed in the script. In addition, a stunning collection of rear-projected images allows a greater range of locations to be added throughout the production, from playgrounds and street scenes to less literal imagery, depicting the emotions of the central characters. (Click here for a gallery of scenic design images). Set elements include an adjustable framework of girders, chain link units, and (imitation) brick walls. Hard pieces include a rolling door unit for the exterior of Doc’s drug store, bar with barstools and Jukebox for Doc’s, a two-sided bridal shop wagon, Maria’s bedroom unit with practical door and window, a sturdy two-story unit with balcony and metal ladder, and additional freestanding brick and chain link units. Costumes by Dixon Reynolds are period-appropriate and can accommodate a large cast. Contact us for pricing, package details, and availability. All sets, props and costumes can be transported in one 53′ truck. (Click photos for larger images.)
